1. If I was Koly, I would try to be as nice to Hari's family as I can and please them as they wish. I would also try to cheer everyone up and be in the best mood possible.
2. I think Senna is an average girl with a poor family. Her whole life changed when she found a poetry book under some rocks. Poetry has helped her by first having a hobby of reading them, then because she read and made up poems herself to her sisters and classmates. Senna and Koly are alike because they were both average young goals and were both opened up to different things. Koly was opened up to new people and new feelings. Senna was opened up to a whole new attitude and thoughts by poetry. Dear Grandma and Papa, Hi. How are you? My friend Angeni and I did an extra credit service project. Angeni thought of doing a toy drive for a children's hospital, but the hospitals won't let us, so we raised money instead. We decided to donate to the Children's Hospital of Orange County. Our goal was to donate $400. We worked really hard to collect all of the donations. Angeni and I made cookies to trade for donations. We both knew that after all of our hard work, the rewarding moment would come and it did. The first thing that I did to collect money, was I went to my mom's, friend's gym with healthy snacks and the cookies that we had made the night before. I made a sign and put the snacks out. After the peoples' workout, they traded a donation for a snack. The following weekend, Angeni and I went to my sister's soccer game and asked if people wanted to exchange donations for a cookie. While we were at the soccer field, a member of the maintenance crew at the park told us we weren't aloud to solicit. We were worried we wouldn't make as much money as we had wished, but we stayed positive and thought of other ways to get us closer to our goal. With my Mom, I emailed our family and friends to receive donations that way. Lastly, Angeni and I walked around my neighborhood for about an hour and a half, asking if people would like to donate, and we received about $30. The total donation we raised was $368.50. While Angeni and I were at the hospital, we got a tour from a very nice tour guide. We got to see what the children get to do everyday. The tour guide told us all of the holidays that the hospital sets up for the kids there. All in all, it was a great experience to go out and raise money to help children that are sick, in the hospital. The hospital is such a great place and they encouraged me to go back again and donate. This was very rewarding to me because I was one in a million to try to save the children. I learned that helping others is one of my passions. This was a big success, and I encourage everybody to go out and donate. Thank you for your donation and your support, Grandma and Papa. I love you!!! Love, Kaitlyn 1. What issue will your service project attempt to help? My project will try to help kids from passing. some kids don't have enough money to do their surgeries. I hope the money that I donate will at least save one life. 2. What can you discover about this issue? A. Interview a member of your community about the issue. How does this issue impact this person's life or the lives of people he or she knows? Does he or she have any ideas for possible solutions? I interviewed my neighbor and she says that when a family member dies, it changes their life and it is never the same again. She thinks the government should help pay for the surgeries or have cheaper insurance. B Research national statistics related to the issue. How many people does this affect? Are there agencies already working to meet the needs of these people? What are the names of these agencies and what are they doing to help? The issue affects tons of little kids due to not enough money. Obama was working towards Obama Care, yet he is not the president anymore. I believe that we should lower the price of insurance. C. Find reviews and news articles, fact sheets or government reports related to your issue to share it with the class. According to the article How Much Money is Enough by Ron Lieber, not every family is blessed with wealth and not every family gets payed a ton. 3.What is the goal of your service project: My goal is to at least reach $400 to donate to the Children's Hospital of Orange County. 4. What will it take to plan your project? What do you need? I will need to bake goodies and sell them to get money and donate. 5. Where and how will you put your idea into action? What do you need? I will have to go around asking and asking people buy something, then I am going to the hospital to donate the money. 6. What do you want your idea to accomplish? I want the money that I donate to buy the last tool so a child can get their surgery and recover to be happy again. 7. How will you tell others what you have done? I will tell others that i attempted to help children's life. I donated money because have heard and seen kids die due to not enough money. I tried to help that problem. Moses or also known as Moshe ( his Hebrew name) died in 1201 BCE. According to the Christian bible, he was 120 years old when he died. Moses was a good man in my opinion. When he was little, he got sent through the Nile river to keep him from getting killed and ended up in Egypt. Not all got to Egypt, the god had chosen Moses. He was then raised in Egypt as one of the princes. As Moses grew, he had soon found out that he in fact was a Hebrew. After a while, Moses had fought the new king of Egypt with the power of his god. After a hard battle, he had soon had freed all of the Hebrews from slavery. When Moses died, he had left his siblings, Aron and Miriam. His funeral will be on February 21st at 12:00-3:15 pm. We will all meet at the Lincoln Bridge. Hope we will see you there!
I learned a lot from this timeline about Egypt and the near east. Here few a few thing I spotted right away. Old Kingdom(2700-2200BCE) New Kingdom(1600-1100BCE)
4. Egypt was conquered by Kush 5. The Hebrews temple was destroyed by the Romans Scribes have a lot of talent and skill. Scribes wrote on clay, which took time and patients. Writing on clay is way harder than writing with paper and pencil because they had to get every detail. When I wrote my message, it took a very long time. Writing in clay, it is very hard to fix your mistakes. Scribes recorded bartering to keep a receipt of the trade. Also, the kings laws and messages. Some similar jobs that we have today are writers and secretaries. Writing can help entertain, inform and open up your feelings. If we didn't have the system of writing that we had, we would not have writing. If we did not have writing, people would communicate with each other a lot more. All in all, scribes had a difficult job.
In Social Studies, I have learned two main things. The first thing I have learned is that your religion and culture is not the only one. There are different beliefs all over the world. When you believe something, you follow and respect the rules of that culture. People do things such as: not showing their hair,or eating certain foods. I have learned that your religion and beliefs are not the only important ones, there are tons of others. I have also learned that back then, people had, and still do, discover thousands of new and improved ways to do things. From hunting to gathering to planting crops. Peoples' brains have grown so much, we now have the words that I am typing. All in all, I have learned a lot of great things in Social Studies and I can't wait to learn more!
